Responsible Ownership

Each dog's health, temperament and needs matter. We encourage every prospective owner to consider whether their household and lifestyle are a good fit.

01

Puppy Preparation

Puppy-proof your home, set up a crate and quiet resting space, and plan your first vet visit before your puppy arrives. Consistent routines help a puppy settle.

02

Training

Start with short, positive sessions focused on name recognition, sit, recall, and loose-leash walking. Strong, athletic breeds benefit from early, consistent structure.

03

Socialization

Introduce new people, places, surfaces and sounds gradually and positively, within the guidance of your veterinarian on vaccination timing.

04

Nutrition

Feed a quality diet appropriate for the dog's age and size, and ask your veterinarian about portion sizes. Avoid overfeeding growing puppies.

05

Veterinary Care

Keep up with vaccinations, parasite prevention and routine check-ups. Discuss spay/neuter timing and any breed-related concerns with your vet.

06

Breed Considerations

American Bullies and American Pit Bull Terriers are strong, people-oriented dogs. They need exercise, mental stimulation, and owners who can provide calm leadership. Check local laws, housing rules and insurance policies.

07

Lifelong Commitment

A dog may live 10–15 years. Consider your time, finances, living space and future plans honestly before bringing a dog home.
